It’s known that Sidharth and Varun kickstarted their acting careers with Karan’s directorial, Student Of The Year, in 2012. However, what might surprise some is that the duo also played a part in ‘My Name Is Khan‘.
Sidharth and Varun worked closely with Karan as Assistant Directors on the film featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol before their big debut. In a recent revelation on Koffee With Karan 8, the filmmaker shared a hilarious anecdote. He disclosed that during the shoot of My Name Is Khan in Los Angeles, Sidharth and Varun took on the role of distributing pictures of Shah Rukh among eager fans who couldn’t access the star.

Karan shared that he will never forget the day of shooting in Los Angeles where there was a crowd of people hounding Shah Rukh Khan. But they had no access to Shah Rukh Khan, so these two were giving photographs on the side to the fans. Suddenly karan spotted Varun taking photographs with the girls. Karan asked Varun in a funny tone, Were you really selling Shah Rukh’s pictures?
Sidharth added to this funny incident, “Varun was like you want a picture with Shah Rukh, they got wow excited.” Varun defended himself, saying, “Sid was also taking pictures, he picked up two three numbers also there.”
The story took a humorous turn when Karan added, “That we know because you were both very engaged with the costume department. At that point in time, you all were not engaged or related to anybody, but you were having these steamy affairs with the costume department. The following day, Karan Malhotra approached me and suggested, “Can we send two individuals home?” The reason being Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra were proving to be distractions for the costume department.
