National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) celebrated its Foundation Day on Monday, completing 20 years of working towards building the country’s Internet infrastructure.

During the foundation day celebrations of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) on Monday, Chief Executive Officer Anil Kumar Jain highlighted the challenges in Digital India and said that the progress of digitization is scary but NIXI will ensure that all netizens benefit from its use. Noting the rapid progress in the digital world, the CEO said: “These are the times when we have to grow very fast. Jain said that even though some people are afraid to adopt new technologies, eventually the country will adopt it. But then the main challenge would be to ensure that the technologies are safe and do not cause any harm to the country, he said.

“With the benefits of digitization and digital transformation are coming a lot of challenges which are really scary. For example, bank accounts are emptied by cyber criminals, or suppose personal data is getting leaked and someone uses such data to fulfill their purpose, or information related to national security is passed on to enemy countries. The Foundation Day event was also attended by Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT and Chairman, NIXI, along with Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY and other delegates.

Addressing the audience, Sharma in his speech on ‘Need for Digital Transformation for India and the Globe’ said: “Digital transformation is not an option, it is a necessity. It is a modern phenomenon and we have to live with it. “

He talked about the benefits of digital transformation including Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), ease of e-governance, creating a competitive business ecosystem, becoming a digital leader in the world and building a sustainable future. However, he added: “It is important to acknowledge that digital transformation also has many challenges. We must address the issue of data security, privacy and digital literacy to ensure that no citizen is left behind or becomes a victim of cybercrime.” Don’t become a victim.

Further, Sharma said that the Union Government is committed to a multi-pronged approach to achieve the objectives of digital transformation in the country.

He said: “The government will invest in digital infrastructure such as high-speed broadband networks and data centers to enable seamless connectivity across the country.
