Director KN Sasidharan passes away – Times of India

Malayalam film director KN Sasidharan breathed his last on Monday (7-July-2022) morning. He was 72 years old. According to reports, he was staying at his residence in Edapally, Kochi. Sasidharan’s last rites will be performed this evening. He is survived by wife Veena Sasidharan and two children Ritu Sasidharan and Mukhil Sasidharan.

KN Sasidharan earned his degree in Pune Film Institute and made his directorial debut in Mollywood with the film ‘Akkre’ which was released in the year 1984 and starred Bharat Gopi, Madhavi. MammoottyNedumudi Venu, Mohanlal, Rani Padmini, Srinivasan and VK Sriraman in lead roles. The story of the film was based on a novel of the same name written by PK Nandanvarma.

KN Sasidharan’s directorial venture was ‘Kanathaya Penkutty’, a crime mystery film released in the year 1985. Written by Babu Mathews, the story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a girl who is rumored to have been murdered by someone close to her. Directed by KN Sasidharan, the film starred Bharat Gopi, Jayabharthi, Mammootty, Ramachandran and VK Sriraman in pivotal roles.

KN Sasidharan’s last directorial venture was ‘Nayana’ which released in the year 2014 and revolved around the story of a seven-year-old artist named ‘Nayana’. The drama film starred actors Mia George, Jagdish, Kalpana and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.

Apart from being a film producer, KN Sasidharan is best known as an advertising director who has given several notable television commercials, including the popular wash soap commercial with ‘Vannalo Vanmala’.
