Dementia is a condition in which a person may lose some degree of cognitive functioning, including thinking, remembering, and reasoning.

Bengal rebel leader Mukul Roy, who has oscillated between TMC and BJP in the past few years, is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and dementia and had undergone surgery for a neurological disorder last month, according to the doctors treating him.

Although he has recovered physically, his doctors are unsure of his mental functioning.

Roy underwent surgery for hydrocephalus, a condition in which fluid builds up in the brain, which can lead to brain damage.

“Mr Roy’s (physical) health has improved a lot as compared to a month back. He is physically fit to travel, but how much he has recovered his mental functioning is yet to be ascertained. .. Dementia can never be completely reversed and there is always a chance that it could worsen with age, Dr SN Singh, an eminent neurosurgeon who has been treating the politician there for some time, told PTI.

Dementia is a condition in which a person may lose some degree of cognitive functioning, including thinking, remembering, and reasoning. Parkinson’s disease, on the other hand, is a neurological disorder that affects the nervous system.

Roy’s son Subhranshu, who returned to the TMC with his father in 2021, told PTI over telephone, “Baba has been cured of many health problems. He has made several statements,” junior Roy told PTI.

On Monday evening, Subhranshu filed two FIRs alleging that his father was “missing” hours before Roy was seen in New Delhi, where he claimed he had served as “Delhi MP and MLA”. I had traveled there.

Speaking to a Bengali news channel, Roy claimed that he was “never an MLA and has always been a member of Parliament”. He also said that he has to fight with CPI(M) and then added that there is a need to fight with CPI(M), Congress and TMC.
