‘Don’t know why AR Rahman made such a bad song’, Sonu Nigam calls Akshay Kumar & Kylie Minogue’s ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ dance track ‘bekaar’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

In the 2009 film ‘Blue’ featuring Akshay Kumar, the musical maestro AR Rahman composed one of his most mainstream soundtracks. Among the various tracks, one song titled ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ became a chartbuster at that time. With the energetic voice of Sonu Nigam and a special appearance by international pop icon Kylie Minogue alongside Akshay Kumar, the dance track undeniably caught the fancy of many and subsequently developed a dedicated fan following.
However, it’s intriguing to note that Sonu Nigam, despite lending his voice to the track, wasn’t very impressed with the final outcome. In a shocking interaction, while speaking at an FM station, Sonu didn’t hold back in expressing his disappointment. He referred to ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ as a poorly executed song and was especially puzzled by the choice of the song for someone of Kylie Minogue’s international repute. He felt that the collaboration with Kylie should have been utilized better to create something more memorable.

Sonu said, “I appreciate that Rahman considered me for this track. Yet, when you have an international figure like Kylie Minogue, the song should meet global standards.” He also hinted at the fact that even someone as talented as Rahman is not immune to making occasional errors in judgment. Despite his reservations about the song, he did attempt to bring it to life during his live performances and tried to improvise and experiment.

On the flip side, Kylie Minogue’s tryst with Bollywood through this film made her an overnight sensation in India. Recollecting her experience, Kylie in a conversation once mentioned how her collaboration with AR Rahman was a unique experience. Although the style was different from what she was accustomed to, she was pleasantly surprised by the enduring memory it left with her fans.
Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam has announced a fresh collaboration with Bhushan Kumar. The new project is titled ‘Bitter Betrayal’, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what this collaboration brings to the table.
