The municipal corporation has started taking more water from the reservoir. When the water level went down, the corporation reduced the amount of water being drawn from the reservoir to 32 million liters per day (MLD). On Thursday, 38.48 MLD water was withdrawn from the reservoir.
According to a municipal corporation official, more water will be drawn from the reservoir as the water level rises. “This will further boost the water supply in the city.”
While the civic body is entitled to draw 101.4 MLD of water from the Siruvani reservoir, the quantity of water was gradually reduced as the water level went down during summer.
The water shortage, which was expected to end by mid-June, continued due to the inattention of rains. The official said the frequency of water supply in the city was delayed by three to four days due to shortage of water.
