ECR: Solar Panels Installed by Vital Railway Establishment | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: East Central Railway (ECR) has started using solar energy panels in its important installations to ensure zero carbon emission. “Under the mission ‘Save Energy’, Railways has taken several steps to maintain the ecological balance.” ECR CPRO Birendra Kumar said.
According to Kumar, the Danapur division of the ECR has completely switched to solar panels to save unnecessary expenditure on electricity. “The division has 1400 KW solar power power capacity. Due to the solar power facility, there is hardly any possibility of power interruption at major stations and office buildings of the division,” he said.
Patna JunctionThe hub of passenger trains carrying 1.5 lakh passengers per day has 425 kW solar power capacity. The Railways intends to augment this capacity in future to deal with the needs during peak hours of the day, Kumar said.
