Enforcement Directorate officials on Tuesday launched searches at the city residence of a contractor who provides trucks to transport liquor from Tasmac warehouses to retail outlets.
A two-member team from the ED’s Bengaluru office began the search at 10 am at Satchidanandam’s residence at Sakthi Nagar 3rd Street in Thindal.
A team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and policemen from Erode taluk station were deployed in front of the house for security.
The action came after Income Tax officials searched his residence and office for four days in May, seized documents and cash and took him to banks for checking his lockers.
Sources said the contractor is an associate of Power, Excise and Prohibition Minister V. Senthilbalaji.
