Election Dept Focuses On 3 Seats To Boost Voting % | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Rajasthan chief election officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta is concentrating on three constituencies of Karauli-Dholpur, Jalore and Pali to increase polling percentage in Lok Sabha.
For the first time, the Election Commission (EC) has prepared 50 parliamentary constituencies with least number of voters turnout during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The Karauli-Dholpur constituency features in that list.
Gupta said, “Besides Karauli-Dholpur, we are also concerned about two other constituencies of Pali and Jalore. In Pali and Jalore there is huge migration and the DEOs are trying to convince the voters to come to vote. The problem is these voters come in large numbers during panchayat polls. But are reluctant to show up during the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.” Rajasthan features in the list of 11 states and Union Territories where voters’ turnout during 2019 polls was lower than the national average of 67.40%.
During 2019 Lok Sabha polls, 25 constituencies of Rajasthan together recorded a voters’ turnout of 66.34%.
In a recent meeting with representatives of these 11 states and Union Territories the top brass of EC had directed the states’ representatives to actively contribute to the initiatives of increasing the figures of voters’ turnout. The representatives were encouraged to develop tailored and region-specific outreach programs that resonate with the unique needs and demographics of the constituencies. While the total number of voters in Jalore is 22,97,328, there are 23,43,232 voters in Pali. On the other hand, the Karauli-Dholpur constituency has 19,75,352 voters. Together these three constituencies contribute around 12.40% of voters in Rajasthan.
“This time, the district election team is turning no stones unturned this time to woo the voters. This 12.40% can make all difference in our endeavor to increase polling percentage this time,” said a senior election official.
