New Delhi: Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Sunday that engineers solved two critical problems on the platform during a “long day at Twitter HQ” with him. He said that when I tweeted, the ‘fanout service for following feed’ was overloading, resulting in up to 95 percent of my tweets not being delivered. Musk said, “Following is now pulling from Search (aka Earlybird). When Fanout crashes, it will destroy anyone else’s tweets in the queue as well.”

“Besides that, it’s trivial to botch spam accounts with Block,” the Twitter CEO said. “Ads need to be semantic keyword-based so it’s contextually relevant. Amazingly, the ads shown when doing a Twitter search do not consider search terms! We’re changing that as soon as possible,” Musk told.
When a user said that blocks are quite powerful and “it seems that for accounts with a lot of reach, they’ll probably get blocked a lot”, Musk replied that huge block lists are problematic. “They mess up the recommendation system and create a DDoS vector,” he said.
