Patil told TOI, “The victim first got an email from a ‘consultancy firm’. Then he contacted the firm and told them that he was looking for some overseas opportunities. The firm operators promised to help him. After a few days they called him again and told that they have a job opportunity for him. The job was in a German automobile company based in Canada. He immediately agreed and kept making payments in lieu of the said opportunity into the bank account they gave him.”
When the fraudsters kept demanding more money without any concrete result, the victim got suspicious. He said he realized he had been duped and contacted the police.
