Retirement fund body EPFO has extended the date for filing applications to opt for higher pension till June 26, 2023.
In order to provide a wider window of opportunity and enable all eligible persons to file their applications, the deadline for filing applications will now be June 26, 2023, according to a statement.
“The EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) has made arrangements to receive applications for verification of option/joint option from pensioners/members as per the order of the Supreme Court on November 4, 2022,” the labor ministry said in a statement.
Online facility has been made available to ease the process.
So far more than 12 lakh applications have been received.
The online facility was to be available only till May 3, 2023.
Meanwhile, several representations have been received from various quarters for extension of time.
The issue has been considered and it has been decided that in order to provide a wider window of opportunity and to enable all eligible persons to file their applications, the deadline for filing applications will now be 26 June 2023.
The time limit is being extended to provide adequate opportunity to the pensioners/members to mitigate any difficulties faced by them.
This decision has been taken after sympathetically considering various demands received from employees, employers and their unions.
