Ernakulam District Planning Committee meeting reviews progress of projects

The progress of work on the schemes for the financial year 2022-23 by the local self-governing bodies was reviewed in the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting here on Saturday. District Panchayat President Ullas Thomas said that coordination between various departments should be strengthened to complete the plan works.

The DPC also announced joint programs such as financial assistance for dialysis, ‘Nappunyanagaram’ to spread digital literacy among the elderly, establishment of Miyawaki forests, paddy cultivation on fallow land, seed production for Pokkali cultivation, soil and water The progress of implementation was also discussed. protection, milk subsidy to dairy farmers, and cancer detection programs in the fourth phase of the district.

The meeting also discussed the program of providing side wheeled scooters for the disabled. The preparations for the programs for 2023-24 were discussed. It was announced that all the local bodies of the district would finalize the annual reports of various programs by January 16 for submission to the DPC.

In the upcoming annual plan, importance is to be given to the strengthening of Gender Resource Centres, promotion of agri-tourism and responsible tourism, tourism destination challenge programme, improvement in income of Harit Karma Sena members and appointment of socio-psychological counselors in schools.
