Errant Varachha Inspector Weeps For Forgiveness In Court | Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Three days after allegedly misbehaving with a judge, a police inspector has sought a tearful apology and pleaded for forgiveness.
On Monday, Varachha police inspector Alpesh Gabani literally wept in the court when the chief judicial magistrate threatened to charge him with contempt in a 2018 case. On Friday last, Gabani had told the judge that he could not shout at him as “he was also gazetted officer,” a behaviour which also drew condemnation from the Surat District Bar Association and a contempt notice.
On Monday when the matter came up for hearing, he claimed in the court that his behaviour was not intentional, and it was mistake on his part.“If court punishes me, my career will be ruined,” he submitted.
The court accepted his apologies to cancel the contempt notice but severely reprimanded him. The judge also advised that no one including him was above the law and asked him not to repeat such behaviour in the future.
Gabani had misbehaved with the court when asked why he was not providing original documents regarding a case for two months. As the Gujarat High Court has asked for completion of the hearing in nine months, the court was seeking the documents which Gabani was not providing.
