‘Extraordinary impact…’: US Vice President Kamala Harris praises PM Modi, Indian diaspora in Washington

New Delhi: United States (US) Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday said that she is impressed by the extraordinary impact of Indian Americans on America in every aspect of life. The US Vice President said at the State Luncheon, “I am amazed by the extraordinary impact that Indian Americans have had on our country in every aspect of life. Take for example the historic number of members of the United States Congress with Indian heritage.” PM Narendra Modi on Friday. Harris welcomed PM Modi in America. “We are honored to welcome you, Prime Minister Modi. We also welcome members of the President’s cabinet and all members of Congress who are here,” he said.

The US Vice President further said, “We see the influence of Indian Americans from American companies to neighboring businesses, from Hollywood studios to university research labs across our country.”

He said that India is an important part of his life. “When my sister Maya and I were growing up, our mother would take us to India every other year. And the purpose of those visits was to better understand where she came from, what made her , so that we can spend time with our grandparents, our uncles,” Harris said during her address.

“As I traveled around the world as Vice President, I saw the impact of India’s global influence. In Southeast Asia, India-made vaccines saved lives. In the African continent, India’s long-standing partnerships support prosperity and security India helps promote a free and open region in the Indo-Pacific, he said.

PM Modi said on Friday that the coming together of talent and technology guarantees a bright future. “The coming together of talent and technology guarantees a bright future,” said PM Modi at the high-tech handshake event with top CEOs of the US and India at the White House.

During the event, the Prime Minister interacted with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani, Zerodha and True Beacon co-founder Nikhil Kamath. And met many other people.

During the event, US President Joe Biden said that India-US cooperation matters, not only for our own people but for the whole world because our partnership is much bigger than the next breakthrough or the next deal. It’s about tackling climate change, exploring the universe, lifting people out of poverty, stopping pandemics and giving our citizens real opportunities.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi on Friday said that India-US friendship will make the world a better place. PM Modi tweeted on Friday, “India-US friendship will make our world a better place.” The PM also shared a video showing highlights of his US tour. PM Modi is currently on his sixth and first state visit to America.
