Facebook-owner Meta shows future applications of the metaverse – Times of India

meta is doubling down on its efforts for its VR-powered metaverse, a virtual space where everyone’s online avatar will be able to engage socially with potential applications in various fields. The social media giant has released a few videos showcasing the potential applications of its future iterations vr headset, The things shown in the video are actually being worked on, have not been confirmed and it would be wise to think of it as a flight of fancy, which is usually the first step towards innovation.
three areas where we are. The use of the headset can be highlighted in one of the concept videos by the company. Starting with the first, the video shows a university lecture in full swing and the professor trying to explain a concept that students can experience embodiedly. Here it is a virtual 3D object with which the professor and student appear to be interacting. Also, students may not be required to be physically present for the class as the video shows their virtual avatars attending the classes. How realistic would that be? Maybe it can in a few years with better hardware.
Another application shown is in relation to the medical field. Meta claims that VR can actually help students (especially surgeons) practice on a virtual 3D limb before going in for the actual surgery. Videos also show people using sensors on their fingers which can also help with haptic feedback.
There is something for history students as well. The concept video shows that in the future, they may actually be present in a virtual rendering of a period location, in this case Ancient Rome, and examine exactly how people interacted at that time, debated e.t.c.

the effect will be real

Another video shows a father and daughter fishing together, while physically apart about 2,000 miles.

Perhaps this will be possible with the improved technology and hardware of future VR headsets by the company. Meta is really growing its premium cambria Headset and it can be launched later this year.
