According to ‘Command Line’ by The Verge’s Alex Heath, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth recently told employees about the plan and said it would cost the company about seven cents per question.
“It’s the only place in the company where we’re really looking at working with Microsoft and OpenAI, just because there’s a natural business integration,” he told employees.
The executive also said that the company is “working on a partner that is more about all our code and our internal documentation, built on our own infrastructure.”
According to Bosworth, the company is “moving very quickly” and “there will be something to play with internally” in mid- to late June, probably.
last month, Google announced that it has updated Bard with the ability to help people with programming and software development tasks, including code generation, code debugging, and explanation.
Not giving up on the meta metaverse
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said that the company is working on AI and machine learning technology to power products like Facebook’s news feed or advertising system.
“It’s been a pretty amazing year of progress on this front, and the work that’s happening now is going to impact every single one of our apps and services,” Zuckerberg said.
Meta aims to use the technology in developing chat experiences in WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, as well as tools for generating images for posts on Facebook and Instagram.
“There is an opportunity to introduce AI agents to billions of people in ways that will be useful and meaningful,” Zuckerberg said.
Big Tech’s AI push
It should be noted that both Meta and Microsoft plan to invest heavily in the AI space, along with Google and Amazon. The CEOs of these companies spoke to analysts last week about investing in their respective earnings calls.
Meanwhile, a TechCrunch report states that OpenAI secured $300 million from VCs at a valuation of $27-$29 billion. These VC firms include Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive and K2 Global.
Microsoft has invested about $10 billion in OpenAI and is building a supercomputer to train its AI models.
