Nagpur : Senior Journalist Arun Phanshikar72, died by suicide at his residence in Giripeth By taking a dip in the well on Thursday.
Before descending into the well with the help of a rope, he tied a stone around his waist.
Phanshikar had worked in leading newspapers and was also the former president of Nagpur Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh.
The unmarried Vanshikar lived with his brothers. He was suffering from some illness for some time, which is likely to bother him.
It is learned that Phanshikar told his family members that he was going for a walk, but did not come out of the premises and ended his life.
A case of accidental death has been registered at Sitabuldi police station.
