Punjab’s atmosphere has started heating up again after the lathicharge on the farmers who have been protesting for a long time for the compensation of the lands acquired under the Bharat Mala Project. Farmers have decided to jam the railway track across Punjab at 1 pm today in protest against the lathicharge.

Under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, farmers and agricultural laborers will gather and express their anger by sitting on the railway tracks in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Firozpur, Bathinda, Amritsar, Patiala, Ropar etc. Farmer leaders said that the Bhagwant Mann government has lathicharged the farmers who were protesting peacefully.

Farmer leaders said that the Punjab government has remained a puppet of the central government. At the behest of the Central Government, the Bhagwant Mann government is doing anti-farmer-labour work. The compensation being given under the Bharat Mala Project is very meager. Farmers are fighting to increase this compensation.

Farmer leader Harpreet Singh said that it is his right to fight for his rights. But the Punjab government is also lathi-charged on those fighting for their rights. He said that railway tracks will be stopped everywhere in Punjab today at 1 am.
