Feral cats kill two children in one night in Gujarat’s Amreli Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: Two boys were killed by wild animals in a single night in Amreli district. A lioness snatched and killed a five-month-old sleeping baby Lilywhile another three-year-old child Savarkundla Taluka was killed by a leopard on Monday night.
According to forest officials, a family of laborers was sleeping outside their hut due to the heat in Khara village of Liliya taluka when a five-month-old cub was snatched away by a lioness in the early hours of Tuesday.

On getting the information, forest officials reached the spot and formed 10 teams to search for the newborn and the lioness. Trap cages were installed to capture the cat. The forest workers also found the carcass of a goat which was killed by the lioness. They suspect that the animal might have picked up the child after eating the goat.

According to officials, the incident took place in the revenue area which is quite wide and hence it is taking time to catch the vicious animal.
A forest official said, “The family is a native of Amreli and knew about the dangers of wild animals during the night. Still, they put their lives at risk by sleeping in the open due to the scorching heat.”
In another incident, a three-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard at Kaljara village in Savarkundla taluka on Monday night. The forest department got the information about the incident at around 9.15 pm on Monday night. The victim, Bhupat Bagadiya, was playing in the field where his family was working as agricultural labourers. The animal suddenly appeared and dragged the boy away from the field. When the relatives started shouting, the animal ran away. Forest officials searched the area and found the boy’s body. However, the leopard was caught in the night itself.
