Ludhiana: Ludhiana rural police arrested a financier for allegedly raping a woman in an advocate’s cabin at the court premises in Jagraon. The accused was identified as Parwinder Singh, 50, a resident of Barsal village.
The incident allegedly took place on March 30 but the woman, aged around 42, filed a police complaint on April 2. A case was registered after a probe.The complainant told the police that her husband died last October and she didn’t have a source of income. She added that she needed money for her daughter’s school admission and asked Jagraon resident Sukhbir Singh, who she knew well, if he could arrange a loan from someone. The complainant said that she came to Jagraon from Moga on March 30 and they called the financier, who fixed a meeting in the advocate’s cabin. She said that when they went to the cabin, the accused and the advocate, who were drinking alcohol, asked them to wait. In the meantime, Sukhbir received a call and the advocate also left the place. At this, she said that the accused, who was drunk, called her inside and raped her before leaving. The complainant said that she took two days to approach the police as she was tense. He was arrested on Monday.
