Firing at Salman Khan home: How shooters tried to evade arrest | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, both hailing from Bihar, were arrested in Gujarat, 95km from the city of Bhuj on Tuesday. They are suspected of opening fire at the Bandra residence of renowned Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
The accused were brought before the 37th metropolitan magistrate by Mumbai Police crime branch team, which was headed by inspector Daya Nayak.
Mumbai to Bhuj, cops track down suspects
April 14, Sunday:

  • After firing at the balcony of the actor’s Bandra flat, alleged shooters Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) abandoned their bike near Mount Mary Church.

  • They then went to Bandra railway station and boarded a local train for Santacruz; from there they walked till Eastern Express Highway and took an auto to reach Dahisar.

  • At Dahisar, they paid Rs 4,500 for a cab to Surat in Gujarat.

  • At Surat, they missed a longdistance train and boarded a private bus for Bhuj in Gujarat.

April 15, Monday:

  • They got off 95km away from Bhuj and took shelter near Matanamadh temple where they were eventually arrested.

  • In Bhuj, duo allegedly threw weapon in a pond; cops are searching for it.

Police probe

  • Bandra police filed an attempt-to-murder case; identified duo’s bike number on CCTV Cops find bike seller in Panvel who gave it to the duo for Rs 24,000.

  • Bike seller shared duo’s phone numbers and the address of their rented room in Panvel.

  • Cops found their landlord who produced duo’s original Aadhaar cards and phone numbers they had submitted for KYC while renting the room.

  • Meanwhile, on Monday, one of the two switched on his phone near Bhuj to text their mentor, Anmol Bishnoi, which alerted the police to their location.

Who are the two suspects

  • Hours after the duo was nabbed, police in Bihar’s West Champaran district swooped down on their native village close the Nepal border and picked up their kin.

  • The two hail from Masahi-Padraun village under Gaunaha police.

  • A Mumbai police team accompanied local police in the raid.

  • Villagers said duo had been home for Holi and had left for Mumbai a few days after the festival.

  • Apart from Vicky’s father Saheb Sah and Sagar’s brother Rahul, police also picked up one Amerika Mahto as the accused reportedly had called Amerika’s son, Ashish Kumar Chauhan, on phone.

  • Ashish’s wife said her husband is a man of few letters and is a labourer in Gorakhpur.

  • Like Ashish, both Vicky and Sagar are non-matriculate.

  • “I am surprised (over the arrests). We are all daily wage earners. He went to Jalandhar to earn his livelihood soon after Holi,” said Yogendra Pal, Sagar’s father.

  • Sunita Devi, Vicky’s mother, echoed Pal.
