First batch of pilgrims leave for Amarnath pilgrimage; LG may flag off the trip on July 1 | India News – Times of India

J: In large numbers pilgrims Passengers reached residence base camp in Jammu on the Thursday before the start of the annual Amarnath Yatra On July 1st.
The 62-day yatra, which begins on July 1 and ends on August 31, is an important pilgrimage for Hindus who visit the Amarnath cave, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva.

The first batch of pilgrims for the yatra were seen forming long queues outside the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar and other facilities. Amid tight security at various camps in Jammu city, they were in high spirits.
On Friday morning, the pilgrims will leave for Baltal and Nunwan, two base camps in the Kashmir Valley, from where they will undertake onward journeys on July 1.
The administration has started on-the-spot (tatkal) registration for the pilgrims at various centers in the district.
Langar committees have also started their preparations to serve the pilgrims.
Around 33 housing centers have been set up across the district, while “Radio Frequency Identification” (RFID) tags will be issued at the registration centres, said Avani Lavasa, deputy commissioner of Jammu.
Lavasa said that the pilgrims would get their “Tatkal Registration” token number from the Jammu railway station itself and the token would mention the place and date for registration for which the pilgrim’s Aadhaar card is mandatory.
“In total, 5 counters have been set up at Vaishnavi Dham, Mahajan Sabha, Panchayat Ghar for instant registration of pilgrims and two counters have been set up at Geeta Bhawan and Ram Mandir for registration of sadhus,” Lavasa said.
“The pilgrims will be given RFID tags at the registration center itself. It is mandatory with the pilgrims permit,” she said.
So far more than 3 lakh pilgrims have registered themselves online from various registration centers for the Yatra.
