The Ghaziabad police arrested Naveen Pal, an outsourcing employee posted in the Ministry of External Affairs, for espionage. He is accused of sending secret documents related to G-20 to a female friend. It is suspected that the woman honey-trapped him and got him the documents on WhatsApp. Investigating agencies suspect that the woman is a Pakistani spy. At present, several security and investigative agencies including the Intelligence Bureau are interrogating the accused.
Sub-Inspector Prahlad Singh of Crossing Republic Police Station has filed a case against Naveen under Section-3, 5, 9 of Government Secret Act 1923 and IT Act 66F. After this, the police arrested him from near Shani temple at 4 pm on Monday. Naveen is a resident of Bhim Nagar of Crossing Republic area. He is 12th pass. Naveen works as an MTS in the Ministry of External Affairs.
Documents sent to the feed mobile number in the name of ‘Anjali Calcutta’
Police said, “An Apple mobile has been recovered from Naveen. Documents related to Ministry of External Affairs and G-20 have been found in the photo backup section of the mobile. ‘Secret’ was written on all these documents. Apart from this, screenshots of some documents were also taken. He had sent all these photos on WhatsApp of the feed mobile number in the name of ‘Anjali Calcutta’.

Initial investigation by the police revealed that Naveen told that he had befriended a girl named Anjali on social media. After this the conversation started between the two. Then shared numbers with each other. Anjali describes herself as a resident of Calcutta. Police said, “History of Naveen’s bank account was seen. Some suspicious transactions have also been found in this. It is clear from this that Naveen was getting money in lieu of sending confidential documents.
85 thousand came in Naveen’s account
Naveen and alleged Anjali were in constant touch on mobile. The investigation of the call details of both is going on.
In the initial information, Naveen had contact with the woman about 2 months ago. So far, about 85 thousand rupees have come in its bank account. The police suspect that the alleged chatter Anjali is not a resident of Kolkata, but she may also be associated with Pakistani or ISI.
