Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi critical with brain haemorrhage, says hospital

Shiv Sena veteran leader Manohar Joshi (85) was admitted to PD Hinduja Hospital on Monday in a “semi-coma state”.

The health condition of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and ex-Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi is critical and he is in a semi-stuporous state, a city-based private hospital where he was admitted two days ago after suffering a brain haemorrhage. said on Wednesday. His son Unmesh Joshi also said that his father was still unconscious.

In a statement, the hospital said, “Joshi’s condition is critical and he is in an unconscious state. His brain haemorrhage is stable. He is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), being treated, and his condition is being closely monitored. In a medical emergency, Joshi was admitted to the hospital on 22 May in a semi-coma condition. He was breathing on his own and was not on a ventilator, it said.

Speaking to PTI, his son Unmesh said that his father is unconscious and the doctors treating him have told him to “wait and see”. “He is unconscious after suffering a brain haemorrhage,” he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his wife Rashmi Thackeray met the veteran leader at the hospital on Tuesday and inquired about his health.

Manohar Joshi was the first Shiv Sena Chief Minister of Maharashtra following the alliance between his party and the BJP in March 1995.

He has been a member of the Shiv Sena since its inception in 1966. The former Lok Sabha Speaker also served as the Mayor of Mumbai, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Union Minister of Heavy Industries in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet.
