Former New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern to take up Harvard fellowship – Times of India

Wellington: Former Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern said on Wednesday that she plans to take up a fellowship at Howard University later this year.
Ardern stunned New Zealanders in January by announcing she was resigning as prime minister after five years in office, saying she no longer had “enough in the tank”.
She plans to spend one semester at the exclusive Massachusetts-based university.
“I am extremely pleased to be invited to join Harvard University as a 2023 Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow and as a Hauser Leader at the Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership later this year,” Ardern wrote on Instagram.
She will also take up a technology fellowship “to work on challenges around the development of Generative AI Tools,
harvard professor Jonathan Zittrain described Ardern’s appointment as a “rare and precious” opportunity for a former head of state to “dive deeply into a complex and fast-moving digital policy issue”.
The former premier did not offer specific dates for her Harvard visit, but said she would go on October 14 “for a semester that falls during the NZ general election”.
“I’ll be back at the end of the fellowship. After all, New Zealand is home,” Ardern said.
