Islamabad:

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been advised to take “complete rest” for 10 days to avoid further complications with his injured leg, a leader of his party said on Wednesday after he was injured during the chaos at Lahore High. Said a day after. court.

In November, Imran Khan, 70, was wounded in his lower leg after a gunman opened fire on a convoy carrying the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. He was leading a march towards Islamabad demanding mid-term elections.

PTI Senator Shibli Faraz said in a tweet that Imran Khan was “injured again” during his appearance at the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.

He wrote: “Imran Khan’s leg was injured again yesterday due to a scuffle at the Lahore High Court due to the lack of security provided by the government.

“Doctors have advised [Imran] To rest for 10 days,” tweeted the PTI senator.

Geo News quoted sources as saying that a medical board of Shaukat Khanum Hospital has also advised Imran Khan to take complete rest.

Officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity warned that if the PTI chief does not rest, his leg, which was hit by bullets in Wazirabad during the Long March last year, could “swell”.

“Swelling is a danger sign and in such a scenario he may require another surgery,” sources in the medical board said. It also advised the PTI chief to avoid unnecessary movement and not to put pressure on his affected leg.

More than 100 cases have been registered against Imran Khan since he was ousted from power through a no-confidence motion in April last year. But so far he has not been arrested in any case.

After sustaining injuries, Imran Khan has sought relief on medical grounds and has skipped several court appearances.

Reacting to the latest development, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah took a jibe at the former prime minister, alleging that a fake report was obtained from Shaukat Khanum Hospital to avoid appearing in court.

“The advice of 10 days’ rest is actually advice to avoid cases, the election petition was also to avoid lawsuits, and the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also dissolved to avoid lawsuits. Bucket, box, Dustbin, Shaukat Khanum followed by false reports,” said the interior minister.

Sanaullah said that the report was presented as a “medical excuse” as soon as the court ordered Imran Khan to appear before the police.

The minister said, “Imran Niazi has to answer for Toshkhana, Tyrion… and other theft cases.” When the “dustbin” didn’t work, the excuse of “full rest” is being used to avoid court appearances and not respond.

Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) expressed displeasure over Imran Khan not appearing in a case.

The court warned the former Khan that it may cancel his interim bail as it expressed strong displeasure over his frequent absence from court hearings in various cases.
