Meerut: Four people, including a minor, died due to drowning in three separate incidents since Sunday in Bulandshahr and Baghpat. Shamil districts of Western Uttar Pradesh,
Two of the dead were a father-son duo, while the other two died in separate accidents. They have been identified as Kala Singh (17) and her father Ishwar Singh (45), who were residents of Haryana. According to the police, the bodies of the father and son were handed over to their relatives without post-mortem, while the other two bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Sub-inspector Munendra Singh of Shamli’s Kairana police station told TOI that around 50 people from Haryana’s Karnal had gone to bathe in the Yamuna river on Sunday, where two people died after falling into the deep water in the afternoon. The minor was immediately recovered by the divers, but his father Singh was recovered after a three-hour rescue operation and both died.
In another incident, Luv Kush died due to drowning in the Ganga river in Anupshahar area of ​​Bulandshahr. “On Monday at around 7.30 am, Kush along with two of his friends took a bath in the river at Jaypee Ghat, where he drowned in deep water and was found dead. He had passed the Agniveer exam and was planning to join the army. SHO Kotwali Dharmendra Singh said.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Khati had come from Delhi with four of his friends to his relative’s house in Nauraspur village of Baghpat. From there they went to Yamuna in the evening where Khati was washed away by the river on Sunday and found dead after a long period of 12 hours.
