The month of April brings an exciting line-up of releases on Netflix. It is full of highly anticipated films and shows, ranging from Hollywood to Bollywood, Korean and beyond. With that said, from a thrilling zombie apocalypse in Parasyte: The Grey to the Japanese action-comedy film City Hunter, a biopic of the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, April has something for everyone. Here is a list of some of the top Netflix releases for this month.
Netflix releases for April 2024
1. The Ghazi Attack (1 April)
Directed by Sankalp Reddy, the 2017 film The Ghazi Attack will be available on Netflix. The film is based on the mysterious sinking of the Pakistani submarine Ghazi in 1971, against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war. The story follows how a rival Indian submarine encounters Ghazi, only to create tension between the crew, the captain, and the officer tasked with preventing a war situation. The film features actors like Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, and Atul Kulkarni.
2. Ripley (4 April)
Taking on Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, the Netflix show features Irish actor Andrew Scott portraying the role of Tom Ripley, the fraudster-turned-killer. Besides Scott, the limited-episode series also stars Johnny Flynn, Dakota Fanning, and Eliot Sumner.
3. Scoop (5 April)
Directed by Philip Martin, Scoop features the infamous interview with Prince Andrew from 2019, following up on how the interview came together and its impact after it was aired. The interview shows the prince coming up with explanations about his relationship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, as well as showing him defying allegations of sexual assault.
4. Parasyte: The Grey (5 April)
Coming from the creators of the popular Korean film Train to Busan, another K-drama series is set to hit the streaming giant this month. Parasyte: The Grey is a live-action adaptation of the beloved manga series by Hitoshi Iwasaki, depicting how parasites slowly infiltrate and control human bodies.
5. Amar Singh Chamkila (12 April)
Based on the lives of the late singer, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, the biopic drama will release on Netflix in April. It features actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, while Parineeti Chopra plays his wife’s role.
While these are some of the top releases lined up on Netflix this month, the list is quite long, with many other titles like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, The Godfather, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Tearsmith, and the upcoming episodes of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show, among others.
