Gehlot Assures Tickets To 3 Bsp-turned-cong Mlas | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs who had switched over to the Congress in 2019—Wajib Ali (Kaman), Joginder Singh Awana (Nadbai), Lakhan Meena (Karauli), and Sandeep Yadav (Tijara)—met CM Ashok Gehlot at Jodhpur House in Delhi on Sunday to seek assurance that they will get Congress tickets for the coming assembly elections.
“Gehlotji confirmed the tickets of Ali, Awana, and Meena from the same seats. Yadav, who wanted to change his seat from Tijara to Kishangarh Bas, has not secured any assurance from the CM. In the meeting, we all said that Yadav can secure an easy victory from his desired seat,” said one of the MLAs.
Gehlot raised objections to Yadav’s wish to contest from Kishangarh Bas, which was won by another BSP-turned-Congress MLA, Deepchand Khariya. “Khariya’s chances of securing victory are negligible. He is a veteran leader and is facing the anger of his voters.
Another reason for Yadav to leave Tijara is to vacate the seat for a minority community due to their high population there. The deal that Yadav wanted to strike was for the Yadav community to vote for a minority candidate in Tijara and vice versa,” said an MLA requesting anonymity.
Six BSP MLAs joined the Congress government in 2019, taking the tally of Congress from 99 to 105. Among them was Rajendra Singh Gudha, who was recently sacked as a minister of state over the ‘red diary’ controversy.

Congress may drop 25 Chhattisgarh MLAs with negative image
The Congress party in Chhattisgarh is considering dropping 20-25 of its 71 legislators for the upcoming elections due to negative prospects. However, finding suitable replacements may prove to be a challenge. Multiple surveys conducted by the party have revealed negative feedback about these MLAs. The Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, has reportedly given his approval for the move if it strategically benefits the party. The AICC central election committee meeting on Thursday was inconclusive about these identified seats. The Congress party is confident about returning to power after the Baghel government’s five-year term.
