He once remembered picking Mahua. She also remembers the rainy days when she used to pick rugada (a kind of mushroom). But when at this tender age she reached among the big buildings of Delhi, it is not known. 2000 was sold for Rs. She was seven then. Now 19 years old and sold five times in these 12 years. Just as cows and oxen are sold, they were sold. Last sold for 25 thousand. This is the story of Usha (name changed) of Raidih block of Gumla.

girls from remote areas

How the brokers deal with the girls of their own community for just a few thousand rupees, it is known from the operation run by the ‘Little Angel’ and ‘Meri Saheli’ team of RPF. IPF Seema Kujur in Ranchi Rail Division says that human traffickers often take girls to Delhi by trains. These girls are from remote areas. The gestures of these girls reveal that they are being taken for human trafficking.

Get domestic help work in Delhi

Seema tells that on June 12, Hatia-Anand Vihar train was engaged on platform number 1 of Ranchi railway station. In its general coach, a girl was sitting silently. When the little angel and my friend got suspicious, the girl was questioned. At first she hesitated, then told that she was being taken to Delhi to get a job as a maid.

five thousand rupees in commission

She gave her name as Meera Topno (name changed) who was a resident of Simdega. He was 12 years old. There were two women with him. She was also a resident of Simdega. Both the women Binita and Asha would get five thousand rupees each to take Meera to Delhi. Both of them were caught and handed over to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit.

Girls sell for domestic help

Sanjay Mishra, Jharkhand co-ordinator of ATSEC India (Action Against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children), an organization working on anti-trafficking, says human trafficking is the biggest challenge in the whole world like arms and drugs. There are thousands of girls like Usha or Meera who are sold for domestic help or other reasons.

Girls are rescued in large numbers from Delhi

In the last two years, 508 girls have been rescued from Delhi only. Many of these girls do not even know when they were brought to Delhi. He didn’t even remember the face of his parents. Giving the example of Usha, Sanjay Mishra says that when she was rescued, her house in Gumla could be traced after a lot of effort. Neither Usha could remember the face of her parents nor could her mother recognize her. When her elder sister was talking to her mother in Mundari, Usha went and hugged her.

Rescue done from Ajmer

Girls are not tempted to get work only. Rather, it is also taken for marriage or surrogacy. The story of a girl from Dhubri district of Assam is heart-wrenching. An 18-year-old girl was sold to a man in Rajasthan in 2018. When she gave birth to a girl, the man sold the girl to another. The man wanted a son. It is unfortunate that even after the other person was living here, that girl had a daughter. On this he left the girl. In 2020, he was rescued from Ajmer along with two small girls. He is back in his home town Dhubri.

smuggling cases increased after lockdown

According to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the cases of human trafficking decreased between 2018 and 2020. While 1064 girls above 18 years of age were trafficked in 2018, it decreased to 923 in 2019 and 784 in 2020. But organizations working on trafficking have said in their report that there has been an increase in the trafficking of minor children after the lockdown.

According to the report of the National Crime Records Bureau, only three-four states of the country have the highest number of trafficking cases. Among them are states like Assam, Maharashtra, Telangana, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh. According to Nidan Foundation, an NGO working on anti-trafficking in Kokrajhar, Assam, the lives of people have been affected a lot due to Kovid.

girls from poor families

People from poor families do not have enough money to continue the education of their children. That’s why they want to put the kids to work. Traffickers take advantage of this. It is the people of their community who bluff the parents. By luring them to get jobs, they take them to big cities. Many of them are even thrown into prostitution. Some are taken for marriage in Haryana, Rajasthan and some are taken for surrogacy.

Human trafficking happens from many districts of Jharkhand

Jharkhand is also one of the top five human trafficking states where a large number of minors are trafficked. A large number of girls are first taken to Delhi from districts like state capital Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Chaibasa etc. Then from there it is sent to the states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra etc.

NTSEC’s Jharkhand Co-ordinator Sanjay Mishra says that there are more than 1200 placement agencies in Delhi itself who bring girls from Jharkhand. These are all fake agencies. The brokers bring them to Delhi on a bluff. Brokers sell girls from 5000 to 25 thousand. They are given rail or air tickets to and from Jharkhand to Delhi.

Little angels running the railway

A campaign is being run by the Railways across the country to stop human trafficking. For this, specially the little angel operation is being run. DSC Prashant Kumar Yadav, the nodal officer of this campaign in Ranchi Rail Division also says that my friend’s team is also there along with the little angel to stop human trafficking. Both the teams work together. In Ranchi Rail Division, an active little angel’s team has recently rescued many girls. Along with this, the brokers have also been caught.
