Google claims that PaLM 2 is “highly trained on multilingual text,” and can work in over 100 languages, and this capability empowers the ability to understand, generate, and translate fine-grained text.
PaLM 2 also has robust reasoning capabilities with detailed datasets. Additionally, PaLM 2 was pre-trained on publicly available source code datasets, making it efficient in popular programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, and others such as Prolog, Fortran, and Verilog.
“We will make the PaLM 2 available in four sizes from smallest to largest: Gecko, Otter, Bison and Unicorn. Gecko is lightweight enough to work on mobile devices and fast enough for great interactive applications on the device, even when offline.”
