Govt withdraws suspension order of JMC-Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar | Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR: The local self-government department withdrew the suspension order of JMC Heritage mayor Munesh Gurjar on Friday, days after she received relief from the high court.
In the past week, 37 Congress councillors had been protesting, demanding the arrest of the mayor after she filed a nomination with the Jaipur Congress unit, seeking a ticket to contest from the Civil Lines assembly constituency.
On Tuesday, RR Tiwari, the district president of Jaipur Congress, had called a meeting to discuss the mayor’s suspension issue and the councillors protesting it, but most of the councillors boycotted that meeting. Sources said that after this meeting, Tiwari met with the chief minister and informed him about the situation, following which the suspension order was withdrawn.
On August 5, the mayor was suspended by the state government after her husband was caught taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh while the mayor was present in the house. After the suspension, the mayor filed a petition in court and obtained a stay on her suspension.
On August 24, she once again took charge as mayor when she received two notices from the state government, seeking a reply from her regarding investigations underway into complaints against her in other cases.
