Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga recently revealed how short on money they were before the premiere of Irrfan Khan starrer ‘The Lunchbox‘ at Cannes Film Festival.
At the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival, she said that they very sincerely made ‘The Lunchbox’, raised money in France, through private investors in India. It was a joint production between France, Germany, and India.She revealed that they receive money little by little from around the world. They were excited as the film was going to the Cannes Film Festival. She recalled they didn’t have the money to go to Cannes and even to book Irrfan’s room. According to her, their sales agent had another big film and that actress refused to show up. That suite got free and that’s how they got him his room

Guneet met Karan Johar at Cannes and made him watch the film and he instantly agreed to come on board as a co-producer. He also said that Guneet is the only woman who has persuaded him like that.

‘The Lunchbox’ starred Irrfan and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles. The film received immense love and appreciation from all sides. The performances of the actors were also well appreciated. Ritesh Batra’s directorial is a film about loneliness and emotional wilderness.

Meanwhile, Guneet and Karan have come together once again for ‘Kill‘.
