The complainant assistant professor has told the police Dhirendra KaushikThe Dean of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gurgaon University, has been sexually harassing her continuously for the last four months.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against Kaushik under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) Indian Penal Code The police gave this information on Saturday at the women’s police station in Sector 51.
The female professor alleges that on April 21, the accused came to her class and started abusing her.
She alleged that Kaushik pressured her to succumb to his sexual advances and also issued a memo to her to reschedule the class.
The complainant also alleged that he tried to physically assault her when she reached the class late once.
When contacted, Kaushik termed the allegations as baseless.
He said that due to the negligence of the complainant at work, he issued two show cause memos to him.
So he was provoked by someone and he complained.
The complainant told that on April 28, the accused called him to the clerk’s room without any reason and started assaulting him.
“At that time two clerks went out of the room. After that I was alone with Dr. Dhirendra in the room. He took advantage of the situation and started molesting me. I got scared and started crying but he closed the door of the room ” And didn’t let me go out. He also threatened me that he would fire me,” according to her complaint.
Police said the complainant recorded his statement in the court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
In 2018, Kaushik was also booked by the police for sexual harassment when he was an assistant professor at Kurukshetra University, but the complainant later withdrew the allegations.
Gurgaon Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that the matter is being investigated.
Police said notices will be given to the accused to join the probe.
