THANE: The police in Maharashtra’s Thane district seized gutka worth nearly Rs 50 lakh from a truck and arrested its driver, an official reported on Friday.
The state government banned gutka due to health concerns. Narpoli police stopped a truck on Dapoda Road in Bhiwandi on Thursday and discovered gutka valued at around Rs 50 lakh.
The truck and goods were confiscated, and the driver, Ajaykumar Shaympal Singh (28), was taken into custody.Authorities are investigating the origin and destination of the seized gutka consignment.
