Hanuman Temple Corridor near Sangam – Decks Cleared for Construction | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYARAJ: Decks have been cleared for construction of the Hanuman Temple corridor in the Sangam area before the Maha Kumbh in 2025, with the ministry of defence giving its approval for providing 2.76-acre land to the Prayagraj Mela Authority to build the corridor. Army will be given land in exchange for this plot.
Aimed at developing area around the city’s famous Lete Hanuman temple, said to be over 600 years old, the corridor will be constructed by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) over an area of 11,500 square metres, of which, the main temple would be on an area of 535 square metres.
Govt, too, has sanctioned funds for the Rs 45-crore project, and PDA would soon start work to complete the corridor before Maha Kumbh.
“We have received the letter from the defence ministry and will provide land of equal area to the Army against land it is providing for the corridor,”said Vijay Kiran Anand, Kumbh mela adhikari.
“The corridor will have a magnificent gate and will have three separate entry and exit points. While walking in the corridor, devotees would be greeted by a religious ambience created by pictorial depiction of stories related to Hanuman, episodes from Ramayana, etc,” said PDA vice-chairman Arvind Kumar Chauhan. “Likewise, there will be provision of parking, open space for different religious rituals, separate area for queues, besides a number of facilities around the Lete Hanuman temple in the Sangam area,” he added.
There will be an area specified for ‘havan kund’, sanctum sanctorum, night shelter for devotees, etc.
The green signal for the corridor comes at a time when work for another corridor, located inside the Akbar fort and connecting Akshaywat to Saraswati Koop, has begun already and will be finished by the beginning of Maha Kumbh.
