Jaipur: Like water inside Ghaggar Siphon The river started overflowing as soon as it crossed the 28,000 cusec mark on Saturday, inundating some villages along the banks. District authorities have not yet declared a disaster, but have said the situation is “very sensitive” and have deployed volunteers of the State Disaster Management.

We had evacuated over 2,800 people till Friday evening. More people were evacuated from the villages on Saturday,” said a district official.

The SDRF team continued to patrol the flooded areas by boat on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, there was 23,550 cusecs of water in the Ghaggar siphon and the total water in the state was 28,862 cusecs. This is the highest inflow of water into the Ghaggar siphon after the 1995 flood, when about 22,500 cusecs of water entered the siphon.
Meanwhile, District Collector Mo. Rukmani Riar And SP Sudhir Chowdhary On Saturday, a meeting of social organizations and political organizations was called in the Collectorate Auditorium and asked them to provide help of manpower, machines or relief materials.
Riyar said, “With the vigilance of the administration and the efforts of the villagers, there has not been any major problem so far. The administration has limited resources, so social organizations should go ahead and cooperate with the administration.”
While the district administration is taking care of 60 relief shelters in the district and focusing on the work of building embankments, officials of the Water Resources Department (WRD) are trying to pump out water from the Ghaggar river bed.
A WRD official said, “At present we have 23,550 cusecs of water in the Ghaggar basin. 40,000 cusecs of water released from the Ootu head is moving towards the state. The only hope is that the water flow up to Ootu and Sadulgarh has stabilised.”
