Siddharth Suryanarayan, known popularly by his mononym Siddharth, turns 45 today. The actor, known from such critically acclaimed films such as Jigarthanda (2014), Bommarillu (2006), and Rang De Basanti (2006), was born in 1979, to a Tamil-speaking family in Chennai (then Madras). He made his acting debut Boys (2003), a coming-of-age Tamil film by S. Shankar. Siddharth has appeared in over 30 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English languages. Siddharth’s Latest Projects

1. Sivappu Manjal Pachai (2019)The Sasi-directed Tamil-language action thriller is about Madhan (G.V. Prakash Kumar) a rowdy street racer who gets in the crosshairs of traffic police officer Rajsekhar (Siddharth). Siddharth humiliates Madhan in public for his lawlessness and becomes his enemy. A bigger threat arrives in the form of drug dealer Madhu (Madhusudhan Rao), who will push the two men to their limits.
2. Maha Samudram (2021)This Ajay Bhupathi-helmed Telugu romantic action drama sees Siddharth as Vijay, who joins the police force to acquire money illegally. Vijay goes on the run after an accidentally stabbing incident, forcing his best friend, Arjun to become a smuggler to look after Vijay’s pregnant girlfriend, Mahalakshmi (Aditi Rao Hydari). As Mahalakshmi begins to fall for Arjun, Vijay returns home.
3. Takkar (2023)In this Tamil-language romance and action feature, directed by Karthik G. Krish, Siddharth plays a carefree young man called Gunasekhar, who wishes to become a millionaire. He crosses paths with a rich girl named Lucky, during a road trip, but soon finds themselves in the midst of a human trafficking ring.
4. Chithha (2023)Successful Tamil crime drama,‘Chithha,’ directed by S. U. Arun Kumar, deals with child trafficking and paedophilia. Siddharth appears as Eeswaran who raises his eight-year-old niece, Sundari (Baby Sahasra Shree) like his daughter. Eeswaran’s life is turned upside down when Sundari gets abducted by a paedophile.

Siddharth’s Upcoming Projects

1. Indian 2 (2024)Siddharth is all set to appear in this S. Shankar vigilante actioner, a sequel to Shankar’s own triple National Award-winning 1996 blockbuster Indian. Siddharth will star as Chitra Varadharanjan, a policeman, alongside returning star Kamal Haasan. The movie is slated to release on June 13, this year.
2. The Test (2024)Directed by S. Sashikanth, The Test deals with an international cricket match in Chennai and how it impacts the lives of three people. Siddharth stars alongside Ranganathan Madhavan (Rocketry), Nayanthara and others.
