Hc’s Pre-arrest Bail To Mukhtar’s Son In ’22 Hate Speech Case | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to Umar Ansari, the younger son of mafioso-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in a hate speech case registered against him during 2022 UP assembly election.
While granting pre-arrest bail to Umar Ansari, Justice Samit Gopal directed the state government to file counter affidavit within ten days and listed the case on November 30.
The FIR against Umar Ansari was lodged on March 4, 2022 by sub-inspector Sushil Kumar Dubey of Kotwali Nagar police station in Mau. Dubey had alleged that on March 3, 2022 Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) candidate Abbas Ansari along with his younger brother Umar and another person Mansoor Ahmad Ansari were addressing a public gathering in which they were heard threatening government officials.
Umar (25) was booked along with Abbas, who later won the assembly election from Mau Sadar seat. Dubey had said the language being used by the accused could have vitiated the atmosphere and spread unrest. Subsequently other sections of IPC were added in the present matter. The applicant’s lawyer argued that so far there has been nothing on record to show that Umar gave any such provocative speech. On the other hand, the anticipatory bail application was opposed by the state government which said that the applicant has challenged the chargesheet filed against him in this case before the HC and then SC and his petitions were rejected from both forums.
