Pre-monsoon rains accompanied by strong winds lashed the city on Tuesday, May 30. Many roads were flooded, causing inconvenience to the commuters.

Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) DK Shivakumar directed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to visit the flood-affected areas, following which the civic body’s executive engineers are camping to resolve the issues. The minister has instructed the joint commissioners of all zones to closely monitor the situation.

The Lingarajapuram underpass was knee-deep in water, bringing traffic to a standstill in the evening. It has been raining in the city since Tuesday afternoon. According to the BBMP control room, at least five trees were uprooted and several branches were broken, which were cleared by the forest department.

Pedestrians in the city were seen passing through waterlogged roads. Traffic was affected near RT Nagar due to the water of shoulder drain entering the road. The Outer Ring Road near RMZ Ecospace was waterlogged. A BBMP official said the situation in the city is under control and authorities are prepared to deal with any flood-like situation due to the rains.
