Justice Nagaratna of the Supreme Court had on June 20 dismissed the petition against the deployment of the Central Force by the State Election Commission and the Bengal government.

There is a panchayat election in West Bengal on 8th July. Violence took place in many places before the elections in the state. The Calcutta High Court ordered the deployment of the Central Force to stop the violence. The State Election Commission and the State Government reached the Supreme Court against this decision.

On 20 June, the Supreme Court rejected his petition. The SC refused to interfere with the High Court’s decision. After which, on Wednesday, the High Court ordered the Election Commission to deploy 82,000 Central Force personnel in the state within 24 hours.

The court also talked about the CBI inquiry on the complaint of tampering of papers during the nomination. Two candidates have accused the election returning officer of making changes in the document.

CBI asked to submit investigation report by July 5
Both the candidates making the allegations belong to Uluberia I block of Howrah district. He says, he belongs to OBC-A category. He also has the certificate, but the Panchayat Election Officer has written SC-W in the documents and stuck the file.

Justice Amrita Sinha directed the CBI to investigate the allegation by July 5 and submit a report before the court on July 7, when the matter would be heard again.
