Hiten Tejwani on Sangeeta Ghosh’s viral Swarna Ghar scene: ‘Actors can’t say we won’t’ Specific

Actor Hiten Tejwani is all set to appear in the upcoming web show Ishqiya. The actor, who was last seen in the web show Ardh, is best known for his roles in TV shows such as Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kutumb, Gangaa, Kesar and Kasautii Zindagii Kay among others. In an interview with News18 Showsha, the actor talked about his upcoming web show. Hiten also shared his reaction to the viral Swarna Ghar scene, which sparked a meme celebration on social media.

You recently attended Swarna Ghar, and one of its scenes – Sangeeta Ghosh’s fan strangulation – was widely trolled on social media. What are your views on this?

I don’t know what was in that scene, however, I do know that whatever is written in the script, we have to do it with full confidence. We can’t say we won’t—it will end in a waste of time. You can’t waste time in daily soap. Of course, if it’s a movie, you can sit down and discuss its treatment, however, we don’t have that much time to work on the daily soap. We have to give our 100 per cent to whatever is written in the script. That’s because if we don’t do a scene with conviction then how will we convince the audience. We also get to know what the audience liked and what didn’t.

How was the experience of working with director-producer Payal Saxena in Ishqiya?

Payal Saxena called me for the project, she was in the US at that time. She told me about the whole script and said that she wants me to do something which I have not done till now. I said, ‘I am all ears’. And, when he told about the story and my role, I loved it and immediately agreed. I am happy to be a part of ‘Ishqiyas’. It has been wonderful to work with Payal Saxena on the project.

You have a huge body of work on television. How has content on TV evolved over the years?

I am happy that people are coming up with different characters. In earlier times people came up with positive characters, and they preferred characters that were simple and nice. But now, over time and as concepts are changing and becoming more real. So, now they’ve moved out of the past zone, and we find it fun too because if we’re getting a chance to do something different why not go for it. Also, if you’re going to be typecast, and if you’re going to break it, there’s nothing like it. So, this is one reason why there are different characters. TV has changed over time. The shooting process is similar, but more planning and of course the technique is saving a lot of time. There used to be proper tapes, now there are cards – we shoot scenes fast, they edit fast and then move on. New technologies, modernization and innovations have given a big push and made a huge difference.
