Hospital to be built in Silchar with the help of Japan. Guwahati News – Times of India

Silchar: The Assam Government is going to set up a 200 bedded super specialty hospital in the premises of Silchar Dr. Principal of Medical College and Hospital, SMCH with funds and technical assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) said Bhaskar Gupta.
Gupta said the 200-bed super specialty hospital would have various state-of-the-art facilities ranging from specially designed surgery rooms to separate blood banks and pharmacy. He said that there is a plan to have six departments – Neurosurgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Nephrology and Urology.
The principal of SMCH said, “After the opening of this hospital, super specialization courses like Doctor of Medicine, MCh etc. will be started. Solar panels will be installed throughout the hospital to save electricity.”
Gupta said that JICA has ensured that the construction of this new hospital is completed within the next 24 months. “When it is ready, there will be a sea change in the treatment scenario in this part of Assam. State-of-the-art medical procedures will also be available here,” he said.
The Japanese Organization has organized a 7-day visit to Japan for Principals of 7 Medical Colleges of Assam to provide practical one-on-one training.
