NEW DELHI: In a distressing event on an Indian Railways train, a passenger shared an account of his sister’s harrowing experience. The woman, traveling in an AC-3 Tier coach, found herself in a dangerous situation due to extreme overcrowding.
The incident highlights pressing concerns regarding passenger safety on Indian trains, particularly in light of the fact that not all citizens can afford traveling on the Vande Bharat Express.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, a user shared an incident involving his sister and her child. The sister found herself amidst chaotic and overcrowded situations near the train’s coach gates.

The intense congestion made it impossible for her to board the train as intended. In the midst of the confusion, her child was left behind on the station platform.
“She had no choice but to risk her safety by disembarking from a moving train to retrieve her child, resulting in injuries,” the user wrote
The commuter voiced their unease regarding the absence of essential amenities, such as restrooms, on the train. The incident took place in Gurumukhi Superfast Express.
Furthermore, they highlighted the issue of ticketless travelers, whose unauthorized presence contributed to the worsening of the overall conditions.
The lack of proper facilities and the prevalence of passengers without valid tickets created a challenging environment for the user during their journey.
Railway Seva responded to the post saying: “Kindly specify if any medical assistance is required.”

Reacting to the post, netizens shared their experiences, expressing concern. They questioned the Indian Railways’ decision to issue an excessive number of tickets, leading to overcrowding on trains. One user asked, “Why is Indian Railways issuing more tickets? Why is this much crowd allowed to board the train?”
Some users highlighted a specific issue related to ticket validity and compartment access, noting, “you cannot be inside third AC if you have a waiting ticket.”
