How Google’s most-affordable Pixel phone of 2024 may get a price hike | – Times of India

Google is gearing up to launch the next affordable Pixel phone, the Pixel 8a. It could come in two storage options, four colours, and a higher price tag.
Citing dealers based in Germany, WinFuture.de reports that the Pixel 8a will be available in two storage configurations—128GB and 256GB of internal storage. Similar to the Pixel 7a, the Pixel 8a is said to come in four colour options: Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint.Sources say that not all the colours will be available in both storage options. And there is a price hike on the cards, too.
According to the sources, the Pixel 8a with 128GB of internal storage would start at 569.90 euros (around Rs 51,000 / $620). Meanwhile, the 256GB storage option might cost about 630 euros (around Rs 56,700/ $685).
The Pixel 7a, which launched last year with a lone storage variant of 128GB, retailed for $499 in the US and Rs 43,999 in India. That would be quite a steep price hike.
The Pixel 8a is rumoured to look the same as the two Pixel 8 phones released last year. Like the other recent Pixel phones, it would have a dual rear camera setup housed inside the visor. However, it will have rounded edges. The Pixel 8a is said to have a 6.1-inch screen, which is smaller than the Pixel 8.
According to the report, the Pixel 8a could come with the Tensor G3 chip, the same chip that powers the rest of the Pixel 8 series. And chipset would be coupled with 8GB of RAM – in both the storage options.
