After the incident, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari posted purported pictures of Arpita Mukherjee with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on her Twitter handle. Mukherjee and Banerjee can be seen together in the picture.

Responding to Suvendu Adhikari’s indirect allegations against the ruling-trinamool Congress (TMC), party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh clarified that he has nothing to do with the money recovered from Arpita Mukherjee’s residence.
“A person whose name has cropped up in this regard is responsible for the clarification. We are trying to find out why the name of the party is being dragged into this. We will issue a statement at an appropriate time,” Kunal Ghosh tweeted.
Besides this, ED officials also raided Partha Chatterjee’s residence here and questioned him for over 11 hours in connection with the probe into the teacher recruitment scam.
The officials simultaneously raided the residences of former West Bengal Board of Elementary Education chairman Manik Bhattacharya as well as the board’s interim chairman Ratna Chakraborty Bagchi, who is also its secretary. The TMC described these raids as a “ploy” by the BJP government at the Center to harass political opponents.
“This ED raid, a day after the spectacular Martyrs’ Day rally which had created a stir across the country, is nothing but an attempt to harass and intimidate TMC leaders. CBI has already questioned them (ministers). Has done. A court’s direction and they are cooperating. Now, ED is being imposed only to defame them. The issue of money laundering is being invented by BJP,” said senior TMC leader and minister Firhad Hakim he said.
