Ludhiana: The Income tax department on Thursday conducted raids at Mandi Gobindgarh based steel unit and 17 other places in the state. All the other raids were conducted at premises of people doing business with the Mandi Gobindgarh-based steel firm.
An IT official said that the firm was the main target of the raid while the 17 other units were associated with the firm through sale of steel products etc.Raids were conducted at Patiala, Ludhiana, Sirhind and Fatehgarh Sahib. The income tax department also conducted raids at a steel unit in Kohara village of Ludhiana district. The owner of the unit lives in Ludhiana. Officials said that they had searched residences, offices and other places related to the industry but they did not divulge more details.
