India would like to end the year on a high after securing a successful run of wins away from home in the recent period. India defeated England in England and then won against the West Indies and South Africa in the ODI format, the latter two series won under Dhawan’s leadership. This is not the first time that India will be playing under the leadership of Dhawan, who has an impeccable record of leading the Indian team in ODIs.

Minor changes have been made to the Indian team as Shahbaz Ahmed and Kuldeep Sen have been asked to wait in India. Both Sen and Shahbaz were due to travel to New Zealand for the ODI series but will now travel to Bangladesh instead, leaving the squad for the New Zealand ODIs with no additions.
