Every year, the Mamata Banerjee-led party fixes programs for its cadre on this day, which commemorates the death of 13 TMC workers killed in police firing during protests against the Left government in 1993.

The Trinamool Congress plans to celebrate this year’s Martyrs’ Day by starting the countdown for the 2024 general elections.

Every year, the Mamata Banerjee-led party fixes programs for its cadre on this day, which commemorates the death of 13 TMC workers killed in police firing during protests against the Left government in 1993.

While the stage is set for TMC’s rally in Kolkata’s Dharmatala, the BJP has planned a counter-protest on the same day to attack the state government over the panchayat poll violence.

On Wednesday, BJP’s Sukanto Majumdar said: “They have looted votes in the panchayat elections. This time, we all should go and ‘gherao’ the BDO office as the administration has manipulated the results.’

Hitting back at the BJP, senior TMC leader and MP Shantanu Sen said, “We wait for this day as Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee give us the mantra to work together for the whole year.” BJP is copying it. Do they have enough people to ‘gherao’ the BDO office? They have failed miserably and are now copying us. It will have no effect.”

training guns on center

TMC sources said Banerjee would set the agenda for 2024 by attacking the Center on issues ranging from delay in funds for Bengal to “step-motherly treatment” of the Center towards the state. Party insiders believe that this stand has helped TMC in rural elections. Abhishek Banerjee is expected to announce the date when he will take the rural locals of Bengal to Delhi to demand funds for the state. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee may target 42 seats for 2024.

Idea behind India

Mamta Banerjee is said to have played a key role in the opposition meeting in Bengaluru and coining the name Bharat for the alliance. On July 21, the Chief Minister of West Bengal will tell how India will approach the future of TMC’s relationship with the NDA as well as the Congress and the Left in Bengal. Sources said there is little chance of seat-sharing with both the parties in Bengal.

arbitrariness of agencies

Just a day after July 21 last year, TMC’s Partha Chatterjee was arrested in a recruitment scam. Since then, several leaders of the ruling party are behind bars and it is expected that Mamata Banerjee will direct the cadre to deal with the corruption charges.

panchayat violence

Panchayat violence has been a big issue for the opposition and Mamta Banerjee may call it a conspiracy to defame Bengal. Given that several TMC workers were also killed in the violence, she may reverse course and blame the opposition instead.

From the violence in Manipur to the collapse of the Maharashtra government, the Chief Minister is expected to speak on every issue. She will also instruct the cadre to inform people about state government schemes such as ‘Loki Bhandar’ (where women get Rs 500 monthly) as well as the Kanyashree scheme.
